For more than five years, we have employed people with a lived experience of recovery in peer worker roles.
With new services such as the Youth Residential Rehabilitation and the sub-acute services, we are seeing the role develop in new ways. To support these changes a working group has been set up to develop a Peer Work framework.
The framework will articulate the principles that inform Peer Work within Neami. It will describe how peer worker roles will look in various settings. It will identify what is required to effectively support peer workers.
The group will meet over the next few months and has a broad membership including peer workers, consumers, support workers, managers and members of the HR and training team.
