St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne has a close and long term relationship with clinical and NGO mental health services in Hong Kong. Every year over the last 10 years or so, delegations from Hong Kong have visited St Vincent’s and their key NGO partners, including Neami.
On Wednesday 2 of December, Neami provided a tour of our services to 11 Kwai Chung Hospital Hong Kong staff, including their CEO. The visit included Neami Fairfield, the Northern PARC, and Sobell in Preston.
The delegates were very impressed at the quality of Neami’s community services. Hong Kong has a very different mental health system and very different challenges compared to Australia.
The delegates were also very interested in the Collaborative Recovery Model and the new Centralised Intake Assessment process.
Glen Tobias was presented with a gift from Kwai Chung Hospital, a framed artistic picture of the hospital in Hong Kong. This hospital is about to have a major upgrade, with over 1000 beds in the psychiatric ward.
