Developing Safe and Inclusive Experiences
Neami National invites consumers and carers to take part in our Welcoming In – Developing Safe and Inclusive Experiences project.
What is the Welcoming In project?
The project aims to develop a set of guidelines to help ensure that our services are accessible and approachable to people from diverse backgrounds, identities, cultures and abilities. Participation from consumers supported by organisations other than Neami or Me Well is welcomed.
Feedback provided by consumers and carers will be used to make recommendations for changes to our services and to ensure that we are meeting the needs of diverse populations in relation to inclusion and safety.
Our Innovation and Projects team will conduct phone interviews with participants to ask for their views on culturally safe and welcoming service experiences. Ultimately, the project will help Neami and its division, Me Well, to build safer and more welcoming environments.
We are particularly interested in hearing from consumers and carers who are aged 16-64 years, have experience with accessing services related to mental health and identify across one or more of the following groups:
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ)
- Culturally and Linguistically Diverse
- Living with a disability
As per Neami National's Consumer Participation Framework, participants will be paid $40 per hour for their time. All responses will be collected anonymously.

Interviews will take place over mid-February to March. Please feel free to contact us to discuss any requirements necessary to take part in the project, e.g. use of interpreters or written materials.
